Supreme Court ruling on prostitution :

 New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued key guidelines on sex work. The country's Supreme Court on Thursday (May 27) ruled that sex workers should be treated with respect.

Prostitution is a profession like all. Sex workers are entitled to equal status and equal protection under national law. A three-judge bench headed by Justice L Nageshwara Rao today issued six guidelines. In the guidelines, the bench said, “Sex workers also deserve equal protection and respect in the eyes of the law.The sex worker is an adult and subject to consent. The police cannot interfere unnecessarily in this matter. Article 21 of the Constitution gives every citizen of the country the right to live with dignity. "
