October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I know I haven't posted for a while, but with good reason. This time, I'm actually spending time writing - a lot of time. I'm going to commit myself to writing a post at least once a month. This month's post is for a great cause - breast cancer awareness.

Early breast cancer detection can be a matter of life or death. October aims to increase awareness of how important early detection is for everyone. So how can you increase your awareness?

Learn the Facts: Understand what breast cancer means, how and when to do a self-exam, what factors are considered high-risk, what to do if you are at high-risk: you can find this information here.

How to Help: There are many ways to help, like starting your own fundraiser. If you don't have the time for this, then how about you donate to one, like this one. For those who work outside of the home, you can get your company involved by asking them to sponsor a "jean-Friday".

Something to think about: aside from skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the United States. Please spread the word.
